The family-fun weekend is packed with rides including downhill, mountain bike and road events, including three kid sized versions. The Speed Jam, a new spin on the traditional criterium, will kick off the weekend in downtown Marquette, with new class designations for both the serious riders, weekend warriors, fat bikes, single speeds and more. The night also offers a music, a Bike Rodeo for kids, a kids crit and screening of the bike film Circulus.
Showcase your skills by spinning your way to victory for a program to make our kids healthier, stronger and active community leaders.
Saturday, April 14, 2012.
Registration begins at 8:00am
First Relay begins at 9:00 am
Event ends around 12:30 pm
BBR is a competitive relay spinning bike race for teams of up to six people. Each relay spot will have a rider spinning for 25 minutes and allow for a five minute change-over for riders. Whether the relay spots are filled with 1, 3 or 6 people is up to you!
Each team is encouraged to raise funds for their team registration; we suggest each person try to raise $100 for the team entrance- this is only 10 friends pledging $10 for a program to make our kids healthier, stronger and active community leaders. Prizes are awarded for the teams and individuals that raise the most funds, so encourage your family, friends or local businesses to support your goal to help local youth!
The Bell Bike Race is not only for competitive riders; it’s for anybody interested in raising funds for local youth while getting a great Saturday morning workout. Riders will receive Bell Bike Race race bags filled with great things like BBR t-shirts and water bottles.
Prizes are awarded on individual and team effort for areas like distance traveled, funds raised and spirit (decorate your area, cheer the loudest, wear a costume…HAVE FUN!)
Not interested in spinning? Support one of our teams by coming down to cheer! We will have Sunny 101.9 providing a live broadcast, local vendors and chances to win additional prizes.
The third race in the “Fit Strip Fat Tire Bike Series” is set for this Wednesday, March 7, 2012. The race, scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. offers a snowy course on one of the beautiful city parks in Marquette. There is no fee for the race, but organizers ask particpants to put money in the pay pole to help pay for grooming, which is done by volunteers. The Fit Strip is groomed for both classic and skate skiing all winter. Thirteen racers competed in the last event in January. Join riders as they battle snow and cold to claim the victory.
