When I think about early season riding, 37 degrees isn’t an ideal temperature to hit the pavement on my bike. On those days my hands and feet don’t stay warm enough to get any decent mileage covered on my training log. I usually wimp out and head back home.
But glancing between the trainer in my living room and the sunshine outside this morning, beckoning me to soak it in, my heart won out, and I searched for my warmest bike clothing. My husband taught me a trick a few years back for early and end of season biking. For my feet, I took two sandwhich baggies and put them over my socks before sticking them in my shoes. It actually works well, and today kept my feet toasty. I also used my cross-country ski jacket which is a little warmer than my thin biking jacket. And before I could change my mind, I grabbed my sunglasses and headed out the door.
